Fake Chat Generator for iMessage, WhatsApp, Discord & More
Script a conversation and replay it in a pixel-accurate iMessage, WhatsApp, Messenger, Discord, Snapchat, Google Messages or Roblox chat, then export it as PNG, WebM or MP4.
Write a conversation once and watch it play back inside a faithful recreation of iMessage, WhatsApp, Messenger, Discord, Snapchat, Google Messages or the Roblox in-game chat, complete with typing indicators, delivery receipts and a status bar you control. Step through it message by message, let it run as a film, or reveal everything at once, then save the result as a PNG, a WebM clip or an H.264 MP4 without any of it leaving your browser.
How to make a fake text conversation
- Pick one of the seven app tiles at the top of the editor, then choose its canvas size and, for every app except Roblox, a light or dark theme.
- Open the people panel to rename yourself and the contact and upload an avatar for each; Discord also takes a role colour.
- Type the messages in order and set who sends each one, optionally adding an image, a delivery status, emoji reactions or a date divider to a line.
- Adjust typing speed, pauses, the status-bar clock and battery under Timing & status bar, then press Play or step through with Prev and Next to check the pacing.
- Export a PNG of the current frame or the whole thread, or render a WebM or MP4 video of the conversation playing out.
Seven apps, one script
Every skin in this simulator was rebuilt from measured screenshots of the real applications rather than approximated from memory: bubble radii, padding, font sizes, header heights, tick colours and the exact shade of a sent message are recorded in a per-app specification and the stylesheet cites it line by line. The iMessage skin switches to green SMS bubbles when you flip SMS mode; the WhatsApp skin uses the current white header and doodle wallpaper; Discord has no bubbles at all and shows the typing bar above the composer; Snapchat renders coloured sender labels with the vertical bar; Roblox draws the translucent chat window over a game screenshot you upload.
Because the same script drives all seven, you can write the dialogue once and flip between apps to see which reads best. The people panel lets you rename both participants, upload avatars, and (for Discord) pick a role colour; Roblox computes the name colour with the same hashing routine the real client uses, so a given username always gets the same colour it would in a live experience.
Chat app skins, themes and device frames
Each app comes with the device frames it is actually used on, and switching apps swaps the frame automatically. There is no separate iPhone-or-Android switch: an iMessage chat always sits in an iPhone-sized canvas and a WhatsApp chat in an Android-sized one.
- iMessage: iPhone 15 / 16 (393×852) or iPhone Pro Max (430×932), light or dark, blue iMessage bubbles or green SMS bubbles with a segment counter.
- Messenger: the same two iPhone canvases, light or dark, with delivery status and reactions.
- Snapchat: the same two iPhone canvases, light or dark, with coloured sender labels instead of bubbles.
- WhatsApp: Android (412×915) or Android compact (360×800), light or dark, with an optional wallpaper image of your own.
- Google Messages: Pixel (412×915) or Android compact (360×800), light or dark, in RCS mode or the SMS styling.
- Discord: Desktop DM (800×600) or Mobile (390×844), dark by default with a light option, plus the Nitro toggle and a role colour.
- Roblox: Game 16:9 (800×450) or Game HD (1280×720) drawn over your uploaded game screenshot, with no theme switch and no typing indicator, just as in the real in-experience chat.
Timing that behaves like a real phone
Each message gets a typing duration derived from its length and a characters-per-second speed you set, clamped between a minimum and maximum so a two-word reply still shows the dots for a believable moment and a paragraph never drags on. A pause separates consecutive messages, and both values can be overridden per line when a beat needs to land differently. Your own messages skip the indicator by default, because you cannot see yourself typing on your own phone, but that can be switched on for the apps that show it.
The whole conversation becomes a timeline: play it in real time, drag the scrubber to any instant, or step through it with the Prev and Next buttons. Stepping forward is not a jump cut; it runs the typing animation and the reveal exactly as the film would, and stepping back hides the last bubble instantly so you can re-time a moment. Show all jumps to the end for a static screenshot.
Fake text message videos for TikTok, Reels and Shorts
Text-story videos work because the viewer waits for each reply: the dots appear, the bubble lands, the thread scrolls. The video export captures exactly that, rendering the timeline at 30 frames per second so every typing indicator, pause and reveal you tuned in the preview ends up in the file.
The phone canvases are tall portrait frames, and the export multiplies them by the device pixel ratio, so an iPhone 15 / 16 chat renders at roughly 1179 by 2556 pixels (MP4 trims one pixel off an odd width, since H.264 needs even dimensions). That is taller than the 9:16 shape of TikTok, Reels and Shorts, so the apps will either letterbox it or let you crop; check the framing in your editor before posting.
The clip has no soundtrack. Add music, a notification sound or a narrated voiceover in your video editor afterwards; the Text to Speech tool on this site can produce the narration as an MP3.
Exporting stills and video
PNG export rasterises the phone frame at the device's native pixel ratio, so an iPhone canvas comes out at 1179 pixels wide and a Discord desktop window at 1600, which is what you want when the image will be viewed on a high-density screen. The full-conversation option stretches the frame to include every message instead of only what fits on one screen.
Video export renders the timeline frame by frame at 30 frames per second, so a twenty-second conversation is 600 individual rasterisations; the progress line tells you where it is. WebM works in every modern browser and keeps the exact duration in the file header. MP4 uses the browser's built-in H.264 encoder through WebCodecs, which today means Chrome and Edge; on other browsers the MP4 entry is disabled with an explanation rather than silently producing something else.
Drafts, projects and privacy
You never have to name anything to start. The editor opens on an unsaved draft that is written to local storage as you type, so a reload or a crash brings back exactly what you had. Save as turns that draft into a named project you can reopen, duplicate or rename from the toolbar; Script JSON export gives you a portable copy you can import on another machine.
Avatars, attached images and wallpapers are stored as blobs in the browser's own database and referenced by an opaque id. Nothing in this tool talks to a server: the rendering, the video encoding and the file downloads all happen on your device.
Use it responsibly
A convincing fake conversation is a powerful thing. This tool exists for storytelling, comedy, tutorials, UI mock-ups and classroom material. Do not use it to fabricate statements from real people, to harass anyone, or to pass off an invented exchange as evidence; depending on where you live that can be defamation or fraud. The exported files carry no watermark, so the responsibility sits with you.
Free exports are limited to 30 scenes per day and are never watermarked; Pro exports without counting.
Questions people ask about Fake Chat Simulator
- Is this fake chat generator free, and does it add a watermark?
- It is free with no account, and no export ever carries a watermark. The free tier allows 30 PNG or video exports a day, and that allowance is shared with the meme, fake tweet and Snapchat caption tools on this site; Pro removes the daily count.
- Is it okay to make fake text messages?
- For fiction, jokes your audience knows are jokes, app mock-ups and lessons on spotting fakes, yes. It is not okay to put words in a real person's mouth, deceive someone with a staged screenshot, or present an invented chat as proof of anything. That can hurt people, and in many places it counts as defamation, fraud or harassment.
- Can I switch between iPhone and Android or light and dark mode?
- Light and dark work on every skin except Roblox. The device follows the app instead of being a free choice: iMessage, Messenger and Snapchat use iPhone canvases, WhatsApp and Google Messages use Android ones, and Discord offers a desktop window or a mobile frame.
- Can I make a fake text message video for TikTok?
- Yes. Script the chat, tune the typing speed and pauses, then export WebM or MP4 and upload it or drop it into your editor. The file is a silent, tall phone-shaped video, so add sound and check the crop in your editing app before you post it.
- Does it work on my phone?
- It needs nothing installed, so it will open in a mobile browser, but the editor has a lot of controls and is easier on a larger screen. PNG export relies on standard canvas drawing, while MP4 needs a browser that exposes an H.264 encoder through WebCodecs.
- Why does the MP4 option say it needs Chrome or Edge?
- MP4 export encodes H.264 with the WebCodecs VideoEncoder API, which Firefox and Safari do not currently expose for that codec. Those browsers can still export WebM, which plays in every modern player and can be converted afterwards with any video tool.
- Can I make a group chat with three or more people?
- Not in this version. The script has exactly two participants, you and one contact, and the header, receipts and avatars are all laid out for a one-to-one conversation. Group layouts differ enough per app that they would need their own measured specifications.
- Do the fonts match the real apps exactly?
- On the operating system an app is native to, yes: the stylesheet asks for SF Pro on Apple devices and for Roboto, which is bundled, on Android-style skins. Discord's and Snapchat's proprietary faces cannot be redistributed, so metrically close fallbacks are used where the real font is not installed.
- Where are my drafts and saved chats stored?
- In your browser's IndexedDB under this site's origin. Clearing site data removes them, and they are not synchronised between browsers or devices, which is why the Script JSON export exists for moving a project elsewhere.
- How long can a single message be?
- The counter under each message enforces the real platform limits: two thousand characters on Discord or four thousand with Nitro, sixty-five thousand on WhatsApp, one thousand on Snapchat, two hundred in Roblox chat, and in SMS mode the counter also shows how many segments the text would take.
- Why do my own messages never show a typing indicator?
- Because on a real phone you never see your own typing bubble, only the other person's. If you are filming from the contact's point of view, enable the option under Timing to show typing for your messages as well.
