Rotate PDF Pages — Fix Sideways Scans Without Uploading

Rotate individual PDF pages, reorder them, and export locally with no upload — up to 300 pages per document free.

Rotate PDF Pages turns each page's thumbnail into its own rotation control: click it once and that page turns 90 degrees, click again for 180, and so on, independent of every other page in the document. There's no single rotate-the-whole-file switch — the model here is per-page, which matters for scans where only a handful of pages came in sideways.

How to rotate PDF pages

  1. Drop the PDF onto the Load PDFs panel or click it to choose the file; every page appears as a thumbnail in the grid.
  2. Click the rotate icon on a sideways or upside-down page once for each quarter turn clockwise: once for 90°, twice for 180°, three times for 270°.
  3. Repeat for every page that needs fixing; the thumbnails show the new orientation as you go.
  4. Click Export PDF and download the corrected copy, saved with an -edited suffix next to the original name.

Rotation is per page, always

Every page in the grid carries its own rotate icon, and clicking it advances that page's angle by exactly 90 degrees in one direction, wrapping back to 0 after 270. Fixing a document where three pages out of forty came in upside down means clicking those three thumbnails twice each, not applying one global setting — there's no button that touches every page at once.

Why a rotated scan doesn't just accumulate a wrong angle

Some PDFs already store a page rotation value that isn't a clean multiple of 90 degrees, usually from a scanner or a prior tool that wrote something malformed into the page's rotation field. Rather than layering your click on top of whatever odd number was already there, the tool adds the two together and snaps the result to the nearest real 90-degree value, so the page you rotate always lands at 0, 90, 180, or 270 in the output — never at a value a viewer would render tilted.

What actually changes in the file

Rotating a page only changes that page's stored orientation flag; the underlying content stream, images, and text positions inside the page are never redrawn or re-encoded. That's why rotation is instant and lossless — a viewer just displays the same page content turned, rather than the tool rebuilding the page's visual content from scratch.

The free tier rotates documents of up to 300 pages each, and you may load several files into the same grid without a file-count limit. Pro lifts the 300-page ceiling.

Rotation happens in your browser

Your PDF is opened, previewed and rewritten inside the tab by a Web Worker; no copy is sent to a server at any point. Because only each page's orientation value is changed, there is also no re-encoding step that could soften text or images, so the rotated copy is as crisp as the file you started with.

Where rotation alone won't fix a scan

Questions people ask about Rotate PDF Pages

Can I rotate every page in the document at once?
There's no single control for that — each page has its own rotate icon in the grid, and rotating a long document the same way means clicking through its pages individually, though the grid stays responsive even on very large files while you do it.
Will rotating a PDF save the change permanently?
Yes, in the file you export. The new orientation is written into each page of the downloaded copy, so every PDF viewer shows it the right way up. Clicks in the grid are not saved until you press Export PDF, and the original file on your disk stays as it was.
Is there a file size or page limit for rotating PDFs?
The tool sets no file-size cap; very large files are limited only by your device's memory. On the free tier each document can have up to 300 pages, checked when you export, and Pro removes that page ceiling for longer files.
Can I rotate a PDF on my phone?
The page uses your browser's standard file picker and plain tap buttons for rotating and exporting, so it does not depend on a mouse. How well it runs on a particular phone depends on that browser and on how much memory a long PDF needs.
Why did my page's rotation come out wrong after I clicked it once?
Some scanned PDFs already store an odd, non-90-degree rotation value in the page itself. Your click adds to that existing value and rounds the total to the nearest clean 90-degree angle, so if the source value was unusual the visible result may not match a plain 90-degree turn from zero.
Does rotating a page lose any quality?
No — rotation only changes the page's stored orientation value, not its actual content stream or images, so nothing is redrawn, re-encoded, or resampled. The page displays turned in any PDF viewer without any loss to the underlying scan or text.
My scan is slightly crooked, not sideways — can this fix it?
Not directly. This tool only rotates in fixed 90-degree steps; a few-degree skew from an imperfect scan feed needs a continuous-angle correction, which PDF OCR Reader applies automatically as part of its own preprocessing before recognizing text.
